Ready Seal is a semi-transparent, oil-based exterior wood stain and sealer in one that will not crack, chip, flake or peel. It soaks into the wood instead of sitting on top, which is why it will not leave lap marks or streaks. No primer, no back-brushing.
Whether you are building in cedar or pressure-treated pine, stain protects your investment and keeps the wood from graying and drying out. We recommend staining both.
How much do you need? Ready Seal covers about 125 square feet per gallon on a 6-foot fence. We typically recommend:
- One side: Linear Feet × 6 ÷ 125 = gallons. Quick rule: about 1 gallon per 20 feet.
- Both sides: Linear Feet × 12 ÷ 125 = gallons. Quick rule: about 1 gallon per 10 feet.
Eight colors in stock: Natural Cedar, Light Oak, Pecan, Redwood, Mahogany, Dark Walnut, Mission Brown and Burnt Hickory. 1 gallon from $39.99 · 5 gallon from $179.
Or let us pre-stain it for you. We can stain your fence in-house before you pick it up — more even coverage, no missed spots or lap marks, and no overspray on your landscaping. Materials show up job-ready so the install goes faster. Lead time is usually 1 to 3 days, so just ask when you order.
